PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a medical image processor capable of automatically detecting a site of the myocardial infarction from image data indicating the form of the heart captured by an MRI apparatus. SOLUTION: A tunica intima extraction section 10 finds a gradient of luminance values with respect to locations on a first MR image acquired by a black blood method and detects the tunica intima of the cardiac muscle based on the gradient. A tunica externa extraction section 20 finds a gradient of luminance values with respect to locations on a second MR image acquired by a delayed contrast-enhanced method and detects the tunica externa of the cardiac muscle based on the gradient. An infarction site extraction section 30 detects the myocardial infarction site based on the luminance values of the second MR image, with defining an area between the tunica intima and the tunica externa as the detection region.
