<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which reduces the frequency of control and time for restoring the glossiness of an intermediate transfer body to achieve an operation with less downtime period. <P>SOLUTION: An optical sensor 15 emits detection light from an LED 15e to detect positive reflection light from an intermediate transfer belt 9, which carries a toner image for control on it, by means of a light-receiving element 15f. The light quantity value Qm of the detection light of the LED 15e is set so that the detection output of the light-receiving element 15f which detects the foundation of the intermediate transfer belt 9 may be a predetermined value. A control part 110 displays a caution on an operation panel 108, when the set light quantity value Qm exceeds a caution threshold value, and urges controlling for restoring the glossiness of the intermediate transfer belt 9 by using a web cleaning device 40. The caution threshold value linearly rises with the increased number of accumulated image-formed sheets with the initial value, obtained by adding 50 to a light quantity value Qm just after exchange, as the starting point, but does not reach the settable upper limit value of 250 of the light quantity value Qm even if the intermediate transfer belt 9 reaches to the designed life. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT</p> |
