PURPOSE: An apparatus for electronically converting the locking unit of an existing key-mode loan safe and a method thereof are provided to remove the cost required for replacing the existing key-mode loan safe with an electronic loan safe and installing it. CONSTITUTION: A PC confirms a user of a corresponding safe by recognizing the fingerprint or password of the user. A token issuing machine receives a security code corresponding to the safe from the PC, and then stores it. The token performs the function of a key by storing the security code transmitted from the token issuing machine. A lock device body opens and closes a lock device by reading the security code stored in the token. A lock cover(203) fixes the lock device body(201). A case plate(202) fixes a solenoid(204).
