PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a battery capable of flowing a large current while preventing deterioration of a function of a current shut-off mechanism. SOLUTION: The battery 2 is provided in which an electrode body 80 having a positive and a negative electrodes is contained in a case 3. The battery 2 is provided with a current shut-off mechanism 4 which shuts off conduction between the electrode body 80 and the outside of the battery by cutting apart the conductive path to go from the electrode body 80 side to an external terminal 30 side through a first conductive member 36 and a second conductive member 22. Both conductive members 22, 36 have projection parts 23, 25 which protrude toward the respective mating members, and are jointed by a welding part W formed at the top of these projection parts. The current shut-off mechanism 4 is constituted to cut apart the conductive path by adding a shearing force to the welding part W and fracturing it at the abnormality of the battery 2, and has a shearing force generating part 5 (for example, a coil spring 32 of a shape-memory alloy) which is arranged at the surrounding of the projection parts 23, 25 and contributes to generation of the shearing force.
