<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a receiver of high performance, which performs gain control considering signal levels of signals even when signals near to an intermediate frequency exist or even when signals separated by several-tens MHz from a center frequency exist, and which prevents deterioration in receiving performance due to channels other than a receiving channel. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The receiver includes an AGC detection circuit 16 for generating a second gain control signal corresponding to an intermediate frequency signal from an output of a mixer circuit 6, an AGC detection circuit 17 for generating a third gain control signal corresponding to an output signal of a band-pass filter 8 from an output of an IF amplifier circuit 9, and an averaging circuit 20 for generating a first gain control signal based on the second gain control signal and the third gain control signal.
