Provided is a hydrogen generator which prevents the supply of droplets to a reforming catalyst layer and has stable performance, wherein the generator has a water vaporizer (7) which supplies raw material gas and water, a reforming catalyst layer (9) which supplies the gas mixture from the water vaporizer (7), a burner (4) which mixes the fuel gas with air and combusts, a combustion exhaust gas flow path (16) which is provided on the inner side of the water vaporizer (7) for the flow of the combustion exhaust gas, and a spiral round rod (18) which has a transformation catalyst layer (10), which is placed on the outside of the water vaporizer (7) and supplies the reforming gas, and inserts the water vaporizer (7) between two cylinders (100) and (101). The pitch of the spiral round rod (18) is small compared to the other location in the downstream part of the water vaporizer (7).
