PURPOSE: A milling insert is provided to improve milling quality as the main cutting edge is inclined at higher angle then the rest part of the insert at the initial time. CONSTITUTION: A milling insert comprises an upper surface(16A), a lower surface, and a plurality of cutting edges. A plurality of cutting edges are alternately formed. The cutting edge is formed in a transition portion between upper surface and clearance surfaces(13,15) along a peripheral boundary. The cutting edge comprises a chip removing main cutting edge(12) and a surface wiping secondary cutting edge(14). The surface wiping secondary cutting edge is formed at obtuse angle to the main cutting edge. The main cutting edge settles down from the first end to the lower side of the milling insert. |
