<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a discharge lamp and a lighting fixture with a vessel at a part covered with an external electrode with little risk of being damaged by melting in case of increasing power supply, and with little risk of fall of luminous efficiency because of strong static coupling of the external electrode and an inside of the discharge lamp. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The discharge lamp 1 includes a vessel 11, and an external electrode 15. The vessel 11 is structured of a light-irradiating part 12 made of a glass tube and an electrode mounting part 13 mounting the external electrode 15.
