<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lighting unit control device for a vehicle capable of accurately determining traveling environment of the vehicle and performing lighting unit control with high accuracy based on the determination result. <P>SOLUTION: A front sky photographing area 41, a front central photographing area 42 and an in-cabin photographing area 33 are projected in one photographed image using a specific type wide angle lens and a prism for collecting a light in the cabin. Further, in the photographed image, four determination areas of a front sky brightness determination area 31, a front intermediate sky brightness determination area 32, a front far side brightness determination area 33 and an in-cabin brightness determination area 34 are set. Further, brightness/darkness of the respective determination areas 31-34 is determined respectively, and the brightness/darkness determination results of the four determination areas 31-34 are comprehensively determined to determine traveling environment of the vehicle and further existence of a tunnel or the like.
