<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an input device which is reliably operated with less erroneous detection, the input device being used mainly for operating various kinds of electronic equipment. <P>SOLUTION: A magnetism detection element 21 arranged to oppose to a ball 11 with a predetermined gap left therebetween is brought into elastic contact with the lower surface of a lower case 16 rotatably storing the ball 11. Thus, when the ball 11 is pressurized, the magnetism detection element 21 is also pressurized by the lower case 16 so as to be vertically moved in the same direction as that of the ball 11. The predetermined gap between the ball 11 and the magnetism detection element 21 is always kept constant without changing, and thereby fluctuation in detection in the rotary direction and rotary angle of the ball 11 is prevented.
