<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a measuring tape which one operator can not only measure long distance, but also not causing a trouble when rolling up is faced. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In this measuring tape, a long-length ruler band 1 is rolled out from the state that winding is rolled round or is rolled round into the state that winding is rolled round. A temporary fixation means 2 is attached at a tip of this ruler band 1. The temporary fixation means 2 includes a projection piece 10 which is possible to change in directions both a downward posture which serves as the downward posture from the ruler band 1 which is rolled out and a horizontal posture which has the similar direction as a length direction of the ruler band 1, and a lock mechanism 20 which is locking the projection piece 10 at the downward posture and which is released the locking state by being pulled in order to roll round the ruler band 1 which is rolled out.
