PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotary compressor allowing improvement of reliability, while improving efficiency of a compressor by effectively suppressing leakage of refrigerant when compressed. SOLUTION: This rotary compressor is provided with a first cylinder 8 installed in a casing 2 and having a compression chamber for compressing the refrigerant, a first piston 12 internally mounted in the first cylinder 8 to compress the refrigerant in the compression chamber and a drive mechanism installed in the casing 2 to drive the first piston 12. A first length L1 to be a length of at least one of the bevels 121, 122 of the first piston 12 in a direction along planar sections 123, 124 is made longer than a second length L2 to be a length of the piston 12 in a thickness direction.
