PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cache memory control unit capable of stabilizing the throughput of a system and reducing the amount of power consumption of a cache memory by controlling cache capacity. SOLUTION: The cache memory control unit includes: a refill counter 18 for counting the number of refill requests between the cache memory 11 and a main memory 16; and a cache-capacity determining section 17 for determining cache capacity according to the count value by the refill counter 18. The cache-capacity determining section 17 transmits a cache-capacity-decrease command signal Sd for instructing decrease in cache capacity to the cache memory 11, when the count value is equal to or less than a first threshold or is smaller than the first threshold, and the cache-capacity determining unit transmits a cache-capacity-increase command signal Si for instructing increase in the cache capacity to the cache memory 11, when the count value is equal to or more than a second threshold that is larger than the first threshold, or when the count value is larger than the second threshold.
