PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photographing lens unit capable of making the center of an optical axis of a liquid crystal optical element coincident with the center of imaging element without enlarging the unit, and to provide an electronic apparatus using the unit. SOLUTION: The photographing lens unit is provided with: a photographing lens containing liquid crystal optical elements comprising a plurality of transparent electrode plates; an imaging element which is arranged on the image side of the photographing lens and converts an optical image into an electrical signal; a substrate having an opening on the optical axis of the photographing lens; an imaging element holder which holds imaging element; and a two-dimensional drive mechanism which can drive the imaging element holder to the substrate in orthogonal to the optical axis of the photographing lens or the imaging element fixed to the substrate. The imaging element holder has first and second holding members. The first holding member has a first positioning part for positioning in X and Y axis planes perpendicular to the optical axis of the liquid crystal optical element and a second positioning part for regulating the direction of the optical axis.
