<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate synchronization with a previously prepared correction data table, in correcting the detection position of a movable element, using the correction data table. <P>SOLUTION: The position detecting device 4 for shaft-type linear motor 1 that linearly drives the movable element 3 detects the position of the movable element 3, based on a magnet sensor S provided at the movable element 3 and flux of the shaft 2 detected by the magnet sensor S. Although there is a need to recognize the zero position of the movable element 3 and to synchronize with the correction data table when correcting the detection position of the movable element 3 using the previously prepared correction data table. The zero position is taken as an electricity zero position predetermined, based on previously prepared zero position data.
