[Class 39 (ii).] A lamp-holder comprises a hollow body or shell 1, as shown in the Figure, of insulating material such as that known under the registered Trade Mark " Bakelite," with the interior formed as a conical socket to receive a separate lamp socket or connector, which may be of either the Edison or bayonet type, the latter being shown in the Figure. The inner wall of the shell 1 is provided with three ridges 2 spaced at 120‹ to form a seating against which the metal lamp socket 3 is clamped, one ridge 2 being formed with a shoulder or stop to limit the pressure of the socket upon the inner wall of the shell 1. A boss 9 formed around the socket 3 retains it in a central position and may serve to retain a cement or agglutinant inserted between the socket and shell. Spring- pressed plungers 4 within conducting-bushes 5 are located within a plastic mass 7 in the socket 3, the tops of the bushes being closed by seals 6 to which the wires 11 are connected. A knot tied in the wires just above their point of attachment to the socket prevents tensile force from being applied on the portions of the wires within the shell 1.</p> |
