<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce influences of showthrough where a base pattern is visualized after copying. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In order to achieve the above object, this apparatus includes: a determination means for determining whether a setting for printing a base pattern image in which a character portion is produced as a minor dot portion on both sides of a sheet is made; and control means for exerting control so that a warning screen is displayed where the determination means determines that the above setting has been made.
