<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reliably remove a foreign matter such as glass powder firmly adhering to the end face while preventing scattering of a cleaning liquid to the glass plate surface. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The glass plate end face cleaning apparatus 1 includes a cleaning roller 3 for cleaning the end face 2a of a glass plate 2 by bringing the roller 3 into contact with the end face 2a along with rotation, moving means for moving the cleaning roller 3 in a manner of bringing the roller 3 into contact with the end face 2a, and cleaning liquid supply means 5 for supplying a cleaning liquid and the cleaning roller 3 has a sponge part 9 in the outer circumference and is so composed as to move in a manner of closely adhering to the end face 2a by the moving means.
