PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve improvement in determining rate in a capacitance detecting apparatus for detecting change in electrostatic capacitance of an electrode with contact of the human body. SOLUTION: Charging process is conducted after m electrodes (m: an integer of n≥m≥2) are selected from n electrodes (n: an integer equal to or larger than 2) and discharging process is then conducted for the predetermined period in parallel to the capacitances connected to m electrodes. During the charging period, respective potentials of m electrodes are compared with the reference potential and difference in capacitances connected to m electrodes is determined in accordance with comparison results for m electrodes.
