<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mobile terminal suitable for a mobile communication system adopting the MC-CDMA. <P>SOLUTION: Subcarriers of the OFDM are separately assigned to control channels and communication channels. The mobile terminal measures reception power of each of control channel subcarriers at cell searching and decides that the mobile terminal is resident in a cell corresponding to the control channel with the highest reception power. Then the mobile terminal receives the control channel to acquire long code information in the resident cell.
