A support device for a carrying rope (10) of a teleferic installation comprises a support part receiving a portion of carrying rope (10) and resting on a sh oe (12) of the installation. The support part is subdivided in the direction of the carrying rope (10) into a plurality of elemental sections (13i) each resting on at least one removable intermediate shim (14) in contact with the shoe (12), to be able to move each elemental section (13i) away from the carrying rope (10) after the shim (14) has been removed. The invention also relates to a method for checking a carrying rope (10) pressing on a support device.
