PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shield machine capable of preventing the adhesion of sediment to a rotary bulkhead and corotation thereof. SOLUTION: In this shield machine, a rotary cutter frame 3 is provided at the front end of a tubular shield frame 2, and the bulkhead 4 for partitioning the shield frame 2 into front and rear portions is provided in the shield frame 2. The shield machine takes the excavated sediment into the section between the bulkhead 4 and the rotary cutter frame 3, and subsequently, carries out it backward. The bulkhead 4 comprises an annular fixed bulkhead 12 which is provided on the inner periphery of the shield frame 2, and a rotary bulkhead 13 which rotates together with the rotary cutter frame 3; and the rotary bulkhead 13 is provided with an exciting device 14 for suppressing the adhesion of the sediment.
