A text data processing apparatus, method and program which allow appending symbols to proper positions. The text data processing apparatus which performs editing of symbol in an inputted text is provided with a symbol-editing judgment means (52) which judges the necessity of the symbol-editing on the basis of frequencies of symbol insertion in a block composed of a plurality of divided texts, and a symbol-editing position calculation means (53) which when the symbol-editing judgment means judges that the symbol-editing is necessary, calculates the likelihood of the symbol-editing on the basis of the likelihood of the symbol insertion of words and the distance between symbols, and calculates the position of the symbol-editing in the block from the likelihood of the symbol-editing with respect to the words included in the block.
