A method to produce a barium titanate powder having a BET surface area of 10 to 25 m2/g comprising:mixing a barium carbonate powder having a BET surface area of 20 to 50 m2/g and a pyrogenic titanium oxide powder having a BET surface area of 40 to 150 m2/g in a ratio to form a powder mixture, milling the powder mixture, calcining the powder mixture in a temperature range from 700°C to 800°C.
