<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image recording apparatus, preventing deterioration of fixability by conducting the paper sheet carrying control according to the surface temperature of a pressure roller. <P>SOLUTION: This image forming apparatus includes a thermistor 38 for detecting the surface temperature of the pressure roller 33 coming into contact with a fixing roller 28, wherein the surface temperature data is obtained based on a detection signal from the thermistor 38 while the pressure roller is rotated. In a setting section 403, the paper carrying speed is set according to the detected surface temperature, so that when the surface temperature is low, the carrying speed is low, and when the surface temperature is high, the carrying speed is high.
