PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an antenna system, such that polarization characteristics of two orthogonal polarized waves of a folding antenna on a rectangular EBG structure are not caused to deteriorate. SOLUTION: The rectangular EBG structure 1 has a periodic structure, comprising unit structures 5 repeatedly arranged in an X direction and a Y direction, and the unit structures 5, each having a structure which has a quadrangular shape when viewed from a Z direction and is not symmetric with respect to the diagonal thereof. Thus, the unit structures 5 are each made not symmetric about the diagonal thereof and then adjustments are made that in-phase frequencies in the X direction and the Y directions become equal to each other. The rectangular sheet structure 1, which is thus formed is used as a substrate of the antenna system, and then polarization characteristics of the folding antenna on the rectangular sheet structure are prevented from deteriorating.
