PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric motor which extends the life of a brush, reduces a force causing the deviated rotation of an armature, and improves the space factor of a coil. SOLUTION: When the number of pole pairs is P (≥2), the number of slots 11 is N, and a is 0 or a positive integer, N is determined to satisfy N=2P(a+2). A plurality of teeth 9 of an armature core 6 include at least four pairs of first deformed teeth 9a and 9a, each pair having adjacent winding drums 22 approaching each other gradually toward the outside in the radial direction, and at least four pairs of second deformed teeth 9b and 9b, each pair having adjacent winding drums 22 going away from each other gradually toward the outside in the radial direction. The pairs of first deformed teeth 9a and 9a are arranged circumferentially at equal intervals while the pairs of second deformed teeth 9b and 9b are arranged circumferentially at equal intervals.
