<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical waveguide and a light irradiation body with little damage by return light of laser light. <P>SOLUTION: In an light irradiation device 1 containing the light irradiation body comprising an optical fiber and the optical waveguide, laser light output from each laser light source 10<SB>n</SB>is input into an incidence end face 30a of the optical fiber 30<SB>n</SB>by a lens 20<SB>n</SB>, guided to an outgoing end face 30b from the incidence end face 30a by the optical fiber 30<SB>n</SB>, further guided to an outgoing end face 40b from the incidence end face 40a of the optical waveguide 40, and output from the outgoing end face 40b. The device comprises a light reflection part 43 and a light transmission part 44 at the incidence end face 40a, and the return light reflected from an irradiation object and input into the optical waveguide 40 from the outgoing end face 40b reaches the light reflection part 43 or the light transmission part 44.
