PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electret of which the surface potential is improved, and to provide a method for manufacturing thereof, as well as an electrostatic induction type conversion device which is equipped with the electret. SOLUTION: The electret is constituted so as to be a coating film containing cycloolefin polymer having solubility dissolving at a concentration higher than 5 mass% to xylene (25°C).
