A candle holder is also disclosed that comprises such a candle socket and also includes a collection receptacle associated with it and arranged to receive candle residue dropping from the candle socket. A filter that allows molten candle fuel through and catches wick residue falling from the candle socket is arranged between the hole in the base and the collection receptacle.
