A shutter in which opposite ends of each of parallelly arranged long plate-shaped wooden louvers (4) are tiltably supported by a pair of stiles (1). Tilting movements of the wooden louvers (4) are synchronized by pinion gears (33) and rack members (24). Sets of rack gears (25) are mounted on the rack members (24) at intervals corresponding to the pinion gears (33). Each set of rack gears (25) is meshed with pinion gears (33). The wooden louvers (4) are arranged at predetermined intervals such that the pinion gears (33) are arranged at intervals independent of the pitch of each gear.
