A mobile communication system which supports seamless switching between heterogeneous protocols is provided to support plural communication standards conveniently and freely by receiving and processing a communication signal based on at least two communication standards. An RF(Radio Frequency) unit(1) receives an RF signal, performs the processing for the transmission and reception of the RF signal, and exchanges the transceived RF signal with a baseband unit(5). The base band unit includes at least two communication units(6,7) and a shared interface(8), and process signals based on the different kinds of communication standards. The shared interface exchanges information between the communication units. The RF unit includes at least two modulating/demodulating units and an RF interface unit.
