PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reader which generates both photographed image data based on visible spectrum light and photographed image data based on non-visible spectrum light by single scanning. SOLUTION: In the image reader 10, when a first light source 12 and a second light source 14 alternately light up while a conveying unit 18 conveys an imaging target medium P, a visible light data group that is based on a reflected light of a wavelength in a visible spectrum of a first light having a wavelength in the visible spectrum, and a visible light external data group that is based on the reflected light of the wavelength in the visible spectrum of a second light having a wavelength not in the visible spectrum, are alternately generated. As the result, scanning the imaging target medium once, generates the first image data of the imaging target medium P photographed using an imaging means 16 based on the first light by collecting multiple visible light data groups, and at the same time, generates the second image data of the imaging target medium P photographed by using the imaging means 16 based on the second light by collecting multiple visible light data groups.
