PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for collecting balls scattered during practice of table tennis while standing to solve such problems that a scooping implement requires a slightly bending posture when collecting balls and misses or loses collected balls, or a method for collecting balls by pressing the balls with a ball collector having linear members stretched on a frame surface, is bulky or heavy, makes it difficult to collect balls under a table, chair, or the like, scatters balls when collecting the balls, and has increased manufacturing cost. SOLUTION: A ball collector 1 includes a handle 6, a ball-holding portion 7, and a frame 2. The frame 2 includes an opening portion having a ball-collecting portion 3 and a ball-discharging portion 4 which are located side by side. The ball-collecting portion 3 includes linear members 5 stretched at an interval smaller than the diameter of the ball, and the ball-discharging portion 4 (larger than the outer diameter of the ball) is mounted with a cylindrical falling-preventing device 9A. When collecting the balls (balls are collected by being pressed down at the ball-collecting portion 3), the falling-preventing device 9A covers and closes the ball-discharging portion 4 by locking a locking device 11 to a hook 10. During discharging the balls, when the locking device 11 is released to return the falling-preventing device 9A to a state illustrated in the figure, the balls are dropped and discharged from the falling-preventing device 9A through the ball-discharging portion 4.
