560,593. Gas turbines. AKT.-GES. FUR TECHNISCHE STUDIEN. March 1, 1943, No. 3324. Convention date, Feb. 27, 1942. [Class 110 (iii)] A gas turbine plant, working with a closed circuit includes a compressor 1, heat-exchanger 3, heater 5 and turbine 7 and is regulated by varying the quantity of air, or gas, in the closed circuit. On decrease in load an arm 31 turns anti-clockwise and a quick regulation is effected by a valve 16 which opens a line 15, 17 providing a byepass to the turbine. A slow regulation is provided by the closing of contacts 27, 28 which bring into operation an electric motor 19<1> which drives a pump 18 and thereby air is extracted from the circuit at a, point of high pressure and pumped into the high-pressure reservoir 13. In the return movement of the arm 31, the motor 19<1> remains in circuit until the contact between 26 and 27 is broken. For increasing load, the valve 12 opens and air from the reservoir 13 passes into the closed circuit. In one modification the air flowing in the byepass 15, 17 is used to drive a turbine which replaces the motor 19'. In another modification, make-up air is pumped into a lowpressure point in the circuit by means of an electric motor and pump the speed of which is determined by a rheostat under the control of an arm subjected to the pressures of the reservoir 13 and the high-pressure in the circuit in opposition.
