PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suitably prevent, with a simple configuration, occurrence of an abnormal image such as an image deletion in an image to be formed due to discharge product generated and adhered to a surface of the image carrier when the image carrier is charged by corona discharging by a charging device. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes the charging device 2 for charging the image carrier 1 by corona discharging and a fixing unit 7 for having a toner image transferred to a recording medium 6 heat fixed. In this case, a first path 31 for introducing outside air into the charging device and a second path 32 for introducing the air heated in the fixing unit are provided. In addition, a switching means 30 for switching between the first path and the second path and an environment detection means 11 for detecting the environmental condition inside the image forming apparatus is provided. When the detected humidity by the environment detection means is a prescribed value or more, the air heated in the fixing unit is introduced inside the charging device through the second path using the switching means.
