The outer casing (1) of the machine is constructed in several layers, of which at least two form an integrated cooling coil (2). The novelty concerns the multiple channels (3) of this cooling coil (2). These channels are independent of each other. Each is supplied separately with a (fluid) coolant. Coil and/or channels have a connection for compressed air. The cooling coil optionally has several connections for compressed air. The machine is a single- or double screw extruder, the screw cylinder being the outer casing (1). The machine is alternatively a planet roller extruder with a driven central spindle. Planet spindles surround the central spindle, whilst an internally-toothed roller component, forms the outer casing. When cooling, during or after coolant introduction, compressed air is also introduced. This introduction is irregular or follows a profile. It is introduced at several locations into the cooling coil. An independent claim is included for the corresponding method of cooling a plastics processing machine. |
