A microprocessor applies an analog test signal to an auxiliary signal input port (50) of a motion sensor module (10). The motion sensor module (10) processes the test signal and returns the signal in digital format to the microprocessor. The microprocessor compares the returned digital test signal to the original analog test signal to determine whether circuitry within the motion sensor module is operating properly.
