PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To use a storage device in good quality without increasing testing time for the storage device having a storage area of large capacity. SOLUTION: An information processing apparatus includes an operation confirmation testing unit 26 for conducting a test to confirm the operation of the storage area of the storage device 10, and a storage area managing unit 24 for limiting the accessible effective storage area of the storage device 10 to a part of the entire storage area of the storage device 10, and causing the storage area confirmed for normal operation by the operation confirmation testing unit 26 to be expanded in steps from that limited condition as an effective storage area.
