<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce occurrences of insufficient toner supply while controlling the drive of toner supply devices more than driving devices. <P>SOLUTION: Clutches 150C, 150M, 150Y, and 150K are disposed in combination with toner storage containers 110C, 110M, 110Y, and 110K respectively in the form of pairs. When toner is supplied from the toner storage containers 110 to corresponding developing units, whether or not to transmit driving force, received from a motor 120, to them is controlled, thereby switching between supply and non-supply of toner. In this configuration, the driving of the toner supply devices more than the driving devices is controlled.
