PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form a gear shift stage in response to a vehicle speed in the occurrence of failure.

SOLUTION: An ECU executes a program including: a step S104 for indicating a gear shift to a gear shift stage to perform a normal output when forming of the gear shift stage determined in response to a traveling state of a vehicle is disabled resulting from a failure of a solenoid (S100; Yes), and the vehicle speed V is lower than a predetermined speed α (S102; Yes); and a step S106 for stopping operation of all of the solenoids when the vehicle speed V is equal to or higher than the predetermined speed α(S102; No).
