PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrode for an electrochemical capacitor that has a low internal resistance, and an electrochemical capacitor using the electrode. SOLUTION: The electrochemical capacitor includes two electrodes 2 and 4 arranged across an ion conductor. Of the electrodes 2 and 4, at least the electrode 2 is made of an electrode material that contains conductive non-oxide ceramic particles and a binder capable of binding the particles and that does not contain a material supplementing conductivity. As a result, an electrode for an electrochemical capacitor that has a smaller internal resistance is provided. Hence using this electrode leads to the realization of the electrochemical capacitor having a smaller internal resistance. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
