PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique of user authentication with improved security by using a read indicating device. SOLUTION: An image processing unit for processing an entered image, a reading and indicating unit having a function(1) and a function(2) out of the function(1) for displaying information concerning image processing and information concerning the authentication of an operator, and the function(2) for reading a locus entered by handwriting and indication input concerning to image processing, a handwriting recognition unit for recognizing the locus entered by handwriting, and a control unit for controlling the processing of the image processing unit, the read and indicating unit, and the handwriting recognition unit are provided. In the control unit, the locus entered by hand writing is recognized by using the reading and indicating unit, and an operator who inputs the locus is authenticated, and then based on the authentication result, it is determined whether the indication input is received or not in the image processing device.
