PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a precipitating tank for chips of a member to be cut improved in efficiency of the precipitating tank by collecting chips generated when cutting the member to be cut together with cutting fluid in the precipitating tank and storing the chips floating on a surface layer of the cutting fluid within the precipitating tank in a fixed region. SOLUTION: This precipitating tank 5 for chips is used for a circulating passage 3 of the cutting fluid for collecting the cutting fluid in the tank 5 after cutting the member W to be cut, while supplying the cutting fluid in a storage tank 6 to a cutting tool 2 within a machining tank 4 through a filtration filter 7, precipitating the chips Pa generated during machining and returning the chips Pa to the storage tank 6. An upper part of the precipitating tank 5 for chips is partitioned into two regions 25a and 25b, and the lower end part is located on a lower side of a liquid level of the cutting fluid in the precipitating tank 5. The precipitating tank 5 is provided with a chip inflow prevention plate 27 for storing the particlized chips Pa floating on a surface of the cutting fluid in the one region 25a and returning the surface layer part of cutting fluid in the other region 25b to the storage tank 6.
