<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust gas purifier capable of purifying nitrogen oxides in the exhaust gas efficiently over a wide temperature range from low temperatures. <P>SOLUTION: The exhaust gas purifier 10 used to purify the exhaust gas from an internal engine 15 in which a fuel is supplied under a rich/lean periodic condition and includes a reforming means 11 of producing a reformed gas containing hydrogen and carbon monoxide, a low-temperature oxidation means 12 of oxidation-adsorbing nitrogen oxides at low temperatures by means of palladium contained and being capable of oxidizing hydrogen and carbon monoxide and a purifying means 13 of adsorbing nitrogen oxides under a lean condition, discharging the adsorbed nitrogen oxides under a rich condition and converting the discharged nitrogen oxides with hydrogen and carbon monoxides present in the passage. Nitrogen oxides in the exhaust gas can be removed over a wide temperature range from low temperatures by elaborating the layouts of the reforming means 11, the low-temperature oxidation means 12, and the purifying means 13. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
