PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To more accurately control ink temperature which is not influenced by heat emission caused by driving a recording head itself by particularly using a temperature sensor provided on the recording head in relation to an image recording apparatus performing an image recording on a recording medium. SOLUTION: The image recording apparatus includes: a group of heads composed of a plurality of the heads; a tank for storing ink fed to the heads; an ink passage connecting this tank and the heads and for circulating the ink by a circulation driving means; the temperature sensor provided on the heads and for detecting the temperature near a nozzle hole; a head driving means giving a driving waveform for delivering ink droplets to the heads; and a controlling means for controlling the circulation driving means and the head driving means. The controlling means uses at least one head as a head for measuring the temperature selected by the temperature of the head, and controls the temperature of the ink from the output value of the temperature sensor provided on the head for measuring the temperature.
