PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating method which can materialize wider property of a ceramic-containing coating layer and can form more easily the ceramic-containing coating layer. SOLUTION: The coating method for forming the ceramic-containing coating layer X1 on at least one side of a plate-like base material Y comprises: an arrangement step of arranging powder X, which contains ceramic powder or a powdery raw material becoming ceramics when heat-treated, on at least one side of the base material Y; and a heat treatment step of heat-treating the powder X arranged on at least one side of the base material Y at the arrangement step to form the ceramic-containing coating layer X1.
