PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device of an internal combustion engine capable of minimizing oil dilution in the variable compression ratio internal combustion engine. SOLUTION: This internal combustion engine 1 of an application object is constituted so that a compression ratio can be changed. This control device 2 detects the performance of short trip operation (stopping of the internal combustion engine 1 before completing warmup after cold-starting), and reduces the compression ratio when detecting the performance of the short trip operation.
