<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a material effective for suppressing the production of hepatitis C virus and pharmaceuticals and foods produced by using the material. <P>SOLUTION: A processed product of the tuber of a plant of the family Araceae has a specific action to suppress the production of hepatitis C virus. The tuber of the plant of the family Araceae itself may be used as the processed product, however, it is preferable to properly select and use from a dry crushed product, squeezed juice and extract according to the use. The use of a processed skin product among the tubers of the plant of the family Araceae is most suitable from the viewpoint of getting in high efficiency and activity. The HCV production inhibitor is applied to an HCV infected person for the prevention and/or treatment of diseases induced by HCV, for example, the onset of hepatitis of the HCV infected person, hepatitis of acute phase and chronic phase, the onset of hepatocirrhosis and hepatic cancer from chronic hepatitis or diseases aggravated by the virus infection diseases. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
