An internal circuit(220) is formed in a semiconductor substrate(10), and a guard ring(230) surrounds the circumference of the internal circuit area. A current block unit intercepts the current flowing in the semiconductor substrate through the guard ring from the internal circuit. The guard rig is composed of the conductive layer buried in the interlay insulating film formed on the semiconductor substrate while being formed along the edge of the semiconductor substrate.
